I have an Acer Aspire 5520 that has died from a cpu failure. It came with a Toshiba 2.5" SATA HDD and I am wanting to recover some important files. I know that the best way is to buy a laptop hard drive adapter kit, but my question is which one will be compatible? I found this one http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sk... but it says it allows a 2.5" IDE laptop drive to work as a 3.5" IDE drive. If I am reading this right, this is not what I want since the drive is SATA. My desktop is IDE so I am looking for an adapter that will allow my 2.5" SATA drive to plug into my IDE cable on my desktop and run as a secondary storage device so I can just copy the files to a flash drive. I am just a little confused when I search for this and don't want to spend the money and it be the wrong adapter. Is there anyone with experience doing this that can point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance.

I have a rather 'off brand' laptop (Neo B2145N) and it gets so hot that it almost burns my fingers to touch it. On my old Compaq Presario V5000 notebook the screen, or frame around the screen, would get quite hot, but this is the WHOLE laptop. I can hear the fan running, and I have the laptop up on a stand thingy I bought to allow better circulation of air.
But it still overheats. Quite often when it gets so hot, it will crash and give the blue screen of doom with a message regarding my video card.
But, the blue screen never stays up long enough to read it... I don't understand why the Blue Screen is even there if we can't read it ...
Your problem is some how common with SIS laptop graphics I experienced it myself with Fujitsu Siemens. So you have two ways to solve this problem relatively :
1- Get a good cooler pad like this
2- There is a heatsink inside your laptop that covers the SIS chipset, it has some cooling paste that should be dried by now so get a cooling paste remove the screws put a sufficient amount then remount the sink again.
If you're not sure you can this part by yourself then find a technician to finish the job for you.
