I live and work in US, and will be carrying my laptop which has built in wireless (Intel Centrino). My parents in Mumbai have DSL from MTNL (I think). Do I need to carry a Wireless Router (such as Linksys WRT54G) from here or should I buy one there to broadcast the signal to my laptop from their cable modem? Has anyone done this before?
If Wireless access doesn't work, I am willing to plug in the RJ45 into my laptop, but would love to use wifi, if available.
Are their hotspots in Mumbai? Any links would be appreciated. I will also be traveling to Cochin and Delhi.

do you happen to know what type of modem your parents were using? it they are using a modem/router that is wireless ready then you could actualy connect right away wirelessly on your laptop... if not and you would really like to connect wireless then you need to have a wireless router....
but if you are not staying their for good, then just connect your laptop with the ethernet cable, you can save a bucks for the wireless router..
