This is recorded on my Dell INSPIRON 9100

CPU: Pentium 4 HT Prescott 3.2GHz ,1MB L2 ,800MHz FSB, socket 478
RAM: 1MB DDR400
GFX: ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 128MB, soon to be ATI 9800 256MB
HDD: 60GB 7200rpm

The motherboard's max. supported cpu speed is 3400MHz.The computer runs 100% stable at 3.5GHz ,but will only handle light loads at 3.6GHz ,recording and encoding this into mpeg at the same time wasn't a light load ,so I just touched 3.6GHz because it was getting late didn't want to have to reboot my system again just to do this(only doing this because I was super bored) ,this is just to show you can easily overclock dells or any computer for that matter through windows ,this overclock was done without changing voltage or any other setting apart from bus speed (fsb) and was done with standard cooling .There is not noticeable in the temperature when overclocking over longer period of time.

This was overclocked using a free program for download, CPUFSB vers 2.2.18

http://www.cpu-cool.de/

For the 9100 choose manufacturer ASUS and mainboard type P4C800

If you want to use other programs the PLL for the 9100 is ICS 952607

The recording is of CPU-Z 1.46

Recorded with BSR Screen Recorder 4

    I only know that …
I only know that Apple had desktop replacment. Now they use mobile processors. Anyway you can overclock a Precott CPU? Wow I have a Precott pentium mobile and it stayed 60-70c when I left it there for 30min and every thing was loaded, it sometimes shuts down when I’m on word processing. So, did you use another heatsink for it or was it stock heatsink?

I don’t do much with the laptop and I only use when air conditioner is on.

    ok pretty sure …
ok pretty sure there’s no such thing as a LGA 478 (LGA (Land Grid Array), the socket 478 is PGA (Pin Grid Array)

and any socket 478 CPU will FIT in any PGA 478 socket ,but that doesnt mean it will be supported by motherboard and/or chipset

This laptop is stock from dell ,it has a desktop cpu and chipset ,It was released to be a DTR (DeskTop Replacement) back in the day like 2004(I think) anyway its really old now

anyway if you need anymore info just ask

    What????
I learnt about intel processor and this processor in a laptop? 84-130TDP?
I’m very sure your processor is
    Pentium 4 HT 3.2F
How did you get a LGA 478 socket into a Socket 478 laptop? How did you get a northbridge that supports FSB 800 for laptop? and if you have a Pentium 4 desktop processor on a laptop and because mobile Pentium 4 uses same power, but with lower heat out put.

LGA 478 is different from socket 478. LGA is a larger socket, so how did you fit that CPU in a laptop?
