Are these good parts for a gaming computer?

I am currently playing World of Warcraft on a laptop and especially with the up-ed graphics in Cataclysm I need a good computer. I was told building you own computer would be the best option. I have a list of what I want but I'm not sure if its overkill or what.

It's not as important to get a quad core processor as discrete videocard - at least ATI 4670 or Nvidia Gt 240 to play WOW on high settings. DDR3 1333 will be sufficient, for PSU - at least 500W and reliable brand required.
Clear case is a bad idea - you would have to do very good cabling, and still it will look not the best. It gets scratched easily, then you get dust inside and it becomes ugly

Sheesh - for a first buy, you've done a nice job. I can't improve on it significantly without a major price boost.

That new Core i7 processor is about the fastest mobile processor currently on the market. No problem there. It compares favorably with the entry level desktop i7-920 processor.

The Mobility Radeon HD 6570 is a mid level laptop gaming card. It will play all games, though the most demanding ones will be at low-medium settings. That mobile card is somewhat better than the desktop Radeon HD 4650 if that give you a good comparison. I.e. gaming on laptops is never as good as dedicated desktop rigs.

EDIT:
DDR3 is the memory type. 1066 is the memory speed in MHz
HDD (Hard Disk Drive) runs at 5400 rpm, which is reasonable. Faster drives in laptops run at 7200 rpm, which speeds up disk searches and transfers a bit (25%).

For $900, that's an excellent purchase.

How would windows 7 run on my Laptop?

Well, just like everyone else using vista i hate it and i can't really trust Microsoft with their next system. So, i just want advice on whether or not i should upgrade from Vista home premium to Windows 7 when it is released in October. Alright, i have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop with AMD Athlon QL-62 dual core processor running at 2.0 GHz, 4 GB RAM , ATI Radeon 3100 graphics and 250 GB hard drive. If i i upgrade to windows 7 then would it be just like vista or would it be comparable to XP in terms of boot time and speed?

Run a trial version. Im not sure but i really doubt windows are going to release such a bad OS again. You shouldn.t have any problems. You could always run a linux distro. I run ubuntu with one gig of ram at 533 mhz and ubuntu 9.04 boots in about 20 seconds.
