You are permitted to use a laptop on a plane when it has been approved by the crew to use (essentially, any time that is not during taxi, takeoff, or landing) and so long as the wireless is turned off.

Hi PPL.... got a small question. Can an oxidized Motherboard be repaired by a BIOS Update?

I kind of figured that out to because the PC is my friend's. Yesterday when we tried to start the PC it would just give a long beep. We took it to the shop where he bought it from. They kept it back and called him to day in the morning saying that the motherboard was oxidized and that they updated the BIOS and that now its working. But don't you think that that answer is a bit weird??? If the MB is oxidized, how can a BIOS update help??????????
1) seriously? no of course not.
2) oxidizing happens when certain metals are exposed to oxygen for extended periods of time. copper is a common example. the green color it turns is a result of oxidation.
3) a BIOS update modifies the motherboards software.
4) software updates to not fix physical problems

that does sound rather fishy. i would go back to them and say unless the oxidation is gone or the motherboard is replaced, you will not pay them. sounds to me like they are trying to take advantage of naive (not you, other people) customers who dont know anything about computers by throwing big words at them.

If I use the HP compaq's advanced recovery to restore the laptop to Factory Condition will it erase windows 7?
I have a laptop about five months old, it won't restore from a set point because it says the drive has something corrupt on it, and my cdrom dvd player only worked a couple of times and it stopped. I was thinking about trying the advanced restore option offered that says restore the computer to factory settings, I saved the files I wanted to but will this also wipe off Windows 7 from the computer? I bought it from Walmart if that makes a difference. Thanks!
If you restore back to factory, it will act like the computer was before you bought it, if it had Windows 7 on it from start, it will again have Windows 7.

I get a missing bootmgr press ctrl alt del to restart. I tried to fix it in the vista repair thing but it won't recognize my hard drive as an vista operating system so it won't repair it. I have xp on another hard drive and i can't even look at the files in the vista hard drive, it looks like its missing. I know it would be easiest to just wipe that hard drive and use xp instead but i have important documents left on the vista hard drive.

How do I get the audio to transfer over to my TV from my laptop?
I plugged in my HP laptop to my Sony Bravia TV with an HDMI cable. The picture goes over perfectly but the audio still comes through the laptop. How do I fix this. I don't know if this is important or not but I have Windows 7. Thanks guys.
There may be a sound card setting for this; often HDMI audio looks like a separate sound card from the one that drives the speakers and/or headphone jack. You may need to explicitly select it.
I don't use windows, but I bet if you go to the control panel and look under sound or audio you may find a setting to switch this.
(It's also possible that your laptop does not support sound over HDMI, but if it's fairly recent it probably does)
